Love Benedict. It's such an intelligent sounding name. Bright, sparkling and happy.
I'm with you on the nn thing. Ben is OK, but Benedict is so much better. Unfortunately, here in the Western U.S. the shortening of a name is so common that Ben would result.
I've never been a big Benjamin fan, despite the wonderful meaning. Bennett is too surname-y for me. Benedict (this spelling only) is the only one of the "Ben" names that I love.
