I love LOTR.
Hey wait...was he originally Gandalf's friend? If so, then I thought his name was Solomon (because of that LOTR caused me to love that name)...well, they're both very solemn and for that I love them.

No, Sauron is a disembodied spirit.

Actually, there are a couple of articles on Encyclopedia of Arda that make a very good, well supported case for Sauron being able to take some sort of physical form.

Actually, that was Saruman; Sauron was embodied only as the fiery eye.
