[Opinions] Re: Ayla

Another one who would pronounce Ayla as AY-la; I'd use the Isla spelling for the EYE-la pronunciation. I have a baby 3rd cousin (I think? I've only seen her once) named Ayla. I remember at my last job meeting a sweet, polite girl maybe preteen age named Isla (I'm not sure how it was spelled, actually). Both names are pronounced the way I just indicated. I like them both, but if popularity factors concern you at all, Ayla may be getting trendy due to its similarity to Kayla and that family of names.
I think the spelling Aila is more confusing in regards to the pronunciation. You're better off sticking with either Ayla (it has the "ay" right in it" or Isla (it's two letters short of "island," so people should be able to figure it out pretty quick). If you're thinking of ever using the name on a daughter, both names also have the advantage of only four letters for a small child to learn. I had to learn to write seven! :)
