[Facts] Re: origins of the name derith
Hi, I'm from Wales. I don't know for sure, but I think it's possible that Derith could have been used as a Welsh form of Dorothy (click on the name for the meaning, which you are quite right about). Derith is really unusual and I can't find any usage of it before 1924, but there were several of them born in the UK between 1924 and 1941, when Dorothy was popular, and it's not unheard of to find Welsh versions of popular names springing up. Oak is derw in Welsh (pr. DER-oo), so that's where that meaning comes from.
