Help[Opinions] Theirn
Has anyone seen the name Theirn before? I personally haven't. It's supposedly a Cajun form of Theodore. I took French and I am usually good with pronunciations, but I'm not really sure how to pronounce Theirn "TAIRN" (like Taryn without the "ih" at the end) or "turn" perhaps? Does anyone like it? It seems like there would be a lot of pronunciation issues but it's kind of cool. It would make a good character name.

I've heard it before, but I just can't remember where! It seems like it was someone I met (an older man?) at a cajun / bluegrass music festival. Its an interesting name, good for a character- I picture him as an eccentric old man. I've been pronouncing it with 2 syllables 'thair-IHN'. It doesn't sound French to me though.

Interesting. I've seen the name Theoren before with the pronunciation THAIR-in. I know that it wouldn't be the correct French pronunciation though (they pronounce "th" as "t"). Both Theirn and Theoren may have been coined by French settlers.

I've never seen it as a name before, but I believe that in English, 'theirn' is an old-fashioned way of saying 'theirs'.

I have no idea where it's from. The database lists it as a possible Cajun form of Theodore, but I guess not?

Eh, it's not really my style, but I'm not a big fan of "T" names in the first place...
Yeah, it would make a great character name!
