[Opinions] Clara and Alicia
Replies
I far prefer Clare and Alice; if pushed, I'd go for Clara rather than Chiara. However, I once knew a toddler whose name looked like Clara but they pronounced it like Sarah with a Cl instead of the S 'because they couldn't choose between Sarah and Clare'. Put me off my lunch.
I love Clara and Alicia. Because of it's similarity to Lara, I wouldn't get to use Clara. I prefer the Spanish pronunciation (in the Americas) of Alicia, so I'm not sure I would use that one either. I don't find Alicia dated, though the only two I know were born in the 80s.
I strongly prefer Chiara. So pretty.
Alicia is great too but I only like the Spanish pronunciation. I don't find it dated at all. Then again, I haven't known many. I went to middle school with a girl named Aleasia. I think her parents were phonetically going for Alicia but no one got it right. We ended up calling her Lisa!

I love the name Clara! It's traditional and feminine without feeling "old lady-ish." I don't love Alicia, but I do love Alice -- which BTW is my middle name!
