[Opinions] Brigid
How do you prn. Brigid? Is it BRIDE or Br-ih-gid or what? I've heard so many, I'm a bit confused. Thanks so much :)-Emma

I could be terribly wrong, but the way I've heard it (the few times I have), it rhymes with "frigid". And I want to like it, but I can't get Frigid Brigid out of my head so I just don't care for it.

I pronounce it bridge-id (as it looks), and it's a very sweet name, in my opinion. :-)

Brigid, an Anglicized form of the name, I would pronounce as it looks. Rhymes with "frigid." Very similar to Bridget.Brighid, on the other hand, I would pronounce as "breed." (The "h" in Celtic words often silences the preceding consonant.)
I don't know where BtN got that "bried" pronunciation. I've checked this with my Irish cousin who speaks Gaelic, so I feel pretty confident on this. Perhaps BtN got the pronunciaiton confused with Bridie, a common nn in Ireland for Bridget/Brigid.

Brigid is an okay name. According to this site, it's a variant of Brighid which is apparently pronounced BRIDE or BREED. I think it's okay._________________________________________________
