[Opinions] Ambrose
Today is the feast day of St. Ambrose of Milan. I have a fondness for the name because of him. I have yet to meet an Ambrose. I'd love to see peoples' thoughts on it!

I like it!It's neat. It's very European. I've never met an Ambrose either. It has a very gentlemanly, artistic-scholarly flair to it.

Utterly gorgeous. Ambrose is one of those "too good to be used, but I dearly hope someone uses it" names. I was in teh grocery store the other day. Over the speaker system, a voice called for Maristella to please answer on line ____. Maristella! Suddenly, it was a "useable" name for me. :-) It only takes one brave set of parents out there to use Ambrose. I live in hope. :-D

I've always had a particular draw to it. It's very intelligent sounding.

Personally, I prefer Ambrosio, but a nice, uncommon name in either case.

I like it. I had a great-uncle Ambrose who was a painter, so it has a sort of pleasantly arty feel to me and makes me think of rolling fields and misty valleys (he painted landscapes). I don't think I'd use it as a first name though, in case he got nicknamed Rosie.

I like the name Ambrose. It has a charming unusual quality. I've only met one person with the surname Ambrose, but I've never met anyone with it as a first name. I'd like to though.
