[Opinions] WDYTO Emily?
It's much more popular than names I usually end up liking, but it has good associations for me, i.e.) Emily The Strange, Emily Bronte, 'Emily' the song by From First to Last...So i find myself liking it.WDYT?

Love it, as it's classic, elegant yet fun and suits a female of any age.

I find it a little dull now, unfortunately. However if I see it on an older Emily (say 40s) I quite like it, but on another baby to 20 year old it seems just so average. I quite like it in the mn spot though. e.g. Lucinda Emily

I've always liked it. Pity so many other people have, too.

I really don't understand what the appeal is of this name. Regardless of its popularity it still sounds kinda bland to me. How about "Bronte" as a nice name with equally good associations. Now that's nice :)

My sister nannied a girl named Emily Rose. It totally fits her and she is precious. I used to love the name Emily, but I don't think I would use it anymore. I don't agree with most others on here that it's boring, though.

Way way way too popular!!

I'm not a fan of names that are really popular like Emily. Although I'm not one for alternate spellings either I'd change the spelling to Emilie or Emelie, which I believe is said slightly different :)

I know lots of amazing girls named Emily, but that's the problem. There's too many of them. If you really like it, maybe you could use it as a middle name? I also find myself liking the name Emelia.

I think it's very sweet, but it also would be terribly boring to see on a kid since it's been so popular for so long. I think it makes a wonderful middle name, though.

It's nice name but it's a little boring. And I more prefer version Emilie.

It's a lovely name, but I have to agree with the others who say it is sort of boring. The only reason I say that, though, is because of the over-use. If I didn't hear it for a while, I would rave about it.

I have a cousin named Emily Paige. But it's soooooo popular it's kind of like, "Oh, another one. Yipee."

Ha, so do I!I'm not sure how she spells Page, though - I just heard her full name called out one time a couple years ago when she was acting up.To the OP: Emily is a GP. I've always liked it, but the appeal has faded after it's gotten so popular. That's too bad, though, because it really is pretty. I remember having a friend in preschool before I knew the name was so popular (it was maybe about 1996 at the time) and I thought Emily was such a gorgeous name.

I had to change the message. I misspelled her middle name and just noticed it. It's Paige not Page.

yawnThis must be the most boring name ever after Sarah. It could do with some rest.

sorry, me too :(Pretty dull. A lovely, lovely name, but so lacking in spirit after all these years.

Yes mHow funny that you associate it with Sarah, because in addition to being way popular, I think of them both as spoiled princess types. It's a shame, too, because I do think Emily is an appealing sound. I think that's why I like Amelia. Similar sound but different feel.
