[Opinions] Hannah and Hannah.
I have two friends (both age 23) named Hannah.
Hannah Nichole and Hannah Elizabeth.
Well, they are both having boys due in December and since they are best friends with the same name, they are agreeing on the same name (only first name I think) for both their boys. Apparantly these two kids aren't going to have a choice but to be friends.
Right now they are leaning towards either John (Hannah Nichole) and Jon (Hannah Elizabeth) or Brayden (Hannah Nichole) and Braden (Hannah Elizabeth).
They said they wanted to use different spellings for the kids so that when the names are written on objects like lunchoboxes and such there is no doubt about who's is who's.
WDYT of this?
And can you also suggest some more names for them? Please give two different spellings, too.
Thanks.

Have you tactfully told the Hannahs that this is one truly screwy, preggo-brain idea? I even fear these two boys may end up resenting their mothers and each other.
My bf and I named our first dds Katelyn (Katie) and Katherine (Kate). We hadn't had contact for about three years so we were shocked to discover that we had each married a man named James and given birth to dds with almost identical names. For the rest of Tina's life (she passed away in 2001 from breast cancer), we remained close, however, Katie and Kate (born two months apart) just never clicked. They were completely different. Tina and I never forced the relationship between our girls although we spent as much time together as we could. Long story short, Katie and Kate are no longer friends. That kind of thing must evolve naturally.
The only thing I can suggest is giving one child the name John and naming the other a variant of that: Sean, Ian, Evan, Ivan, etc., so each child could have his own identity Or, one could be named John and the other Jonathan (and that's bad enough, imo). Another idea is to use a theme of some sort: nature, Biblical, physical characteristic, virtue, etc.
PS: I read below where you said the boys were being raised as identical twins but even identical twins have different names (for the most part). ;-)

To be honest, I think that it is silly.
I wouldn't have a problem with two friends who happen to like the same name but to decide to give your child the same name to the point that you have to mutually agree on one with someone other than the other parent seems a bit much. The only person who I would agree on a name on with is my partner.

Wow. No matter how close we are, I don't think I could ever give my child the same name as my best friend's child. Not only would it be confusing (imagine calling them at the park), but personally, I would like to attempt a *little* originality while naming my kid. You know, for fun. Wow.
Anyway, here is a short list of other names they might like:
Jacob/Jakob
Grady/Gradie
Finley/Finlay
Edward/Eduard
Henry/Henri (although, technically, Henri is pro. differently).
Zachary/Zackary
Owen/Owenn (OK, I'm stretching with this one. This is hard!)

LOL
I think it's a bit silly, but fun. The only ones I can think of right now are Eliot and Elliott, and Alan and Allen.
They could also go with matching nicknames for different names, e.g.:
Ben - but one of them's Bennett and the other is Benjamin
Cal - but one's Calvin or Callum and the other's Caleb
Chris - but one's Christopher and the other's Christian, etc etc etc.

I love the nickname idea. :)
They won't, but I do. I think it's a good idea, that way they can have their own name.

Would they go for John and Sean? (probably not.)
David and Daffyd? Again, likely not, and I may not be spelling the "Daffyd" right.
The boys probably will be friends. My grown sons are still good friends with people they'd never have known, were not the mothers my friends.

No. They've already thrown a fit about naming them THE same name with different spellings. It's ridiculous.
And I have no doubt that they will be friends, but HN and HE are kind of forcing them together. Same clothes, same cribs, same nursery color. They may as well just be identical twins instead of friends.

What?
No offense to your friends, but don't these kids get ANY sense of individuality? Even the clothes and nurseries have to be the same? What if they grow up and realize they have nothing in common? Are they going to continue pushing them to be friends?
Honestly, this sounds like something you daydream about with your best friend in the fourth grade. Yeesh.

Yes ma'am. I've seen the nursery and their outfits.
On top of this, they're due on the same dang day. They've even got the same coming home outfits for the boys.

Oh, lord.
It just keeps getting worse.

Yeah. It does. They won't listen to anyone, but oh well. I'm going to laugh when those boys hate each other.
I was going to say!
Those kids are going to hate each other's guts! My goodness - they should just go with the flow... at least one of them isn't a girl; then they would be dreaming about arranged marriages no doubt...

That's pretty strange... I hope they choose John and Jon (which by the way is pronunced differently where I'm from)
My suggestions:
Oscar and Oskar
Leif and Laif
Simon and Symon
Noach and Noak
Emanuel and Emmanuel
Isidor and Isidore
Graham and Graeme
Gunner and Gunnar
Viktor and Victor
Solomon and Salomon
Eric and Erik

Thanks. :)
This is a cool challenge. I really hope that they go for non-ayden names.
It could also be interesting if they picked the same name but chose different variations on it; ie Henry and Harry,James and Jacob, John and Ivan/Ian. That way each boy gets his own unique name but with a distinct tie to the other.
Other ideas with the different spellings:
Nicholas and Nikolas
Dennis and Denis
Jacob and Jakob
Colin and Collin
Aaron and Erin (I have seen this spelling for boys)
Peter and Petr
Alexander and Aleksander
Christian and Kristian
Dylan and Dillon
Caleb and Kaleb
Isaac and Isaak
Lukas and Lucas

If HN has a brother named Aiden, why would she want a son named Brayden/Braden? Kinda rhymy.
Cause HE loves it, and HN will do whatever anyone wants to make them happy (hence why she is pregnant w/ no husband).
Oh that's really sad lol
God forbid someone think for themselves. That or express their opinions of dislikes in fear of angering their best friend. I wish the best for them both, though ;)

Oh wow that's pretty stupid, sorry ;)
Anyways:
Marc and Mark
Jayden and Jaden
Aidan and Aiden
Cayden and Caden
Lucas and Lukas
Tomas and Thomas
Louis and Luis
Victor and Viktor
Hayden and Haden
Zachary and Zachery
Finn and Fynn
Finley and Finlay
Schuyler and Skyler
Finnegan and Fynnegan or Finegan
Martin and Marten
James and Jaymes
Carl and Karl
Oh well the possibilities are endless, I guess. Not that I like many of the names listed above most of them are just alright.

Don't be sorry. I think it's really stupid, too. They're supposeddly gonna do this for all their kids. (The dads aren't around, so I guess their opinion isn't all that important) but no one else is really a big fan of it.
