[Opinions] Twin names
I was looking at the local BA's in the paper and last week I saw twin girls named Roxie and Reagan, and this week there was another set of twin girls named Caoimhe and Catherine, what are your opinions of the names and the fact they are both so similar sounding?Personally I'm not a big fan of twins being given similar names, just feel they need to be set apart more. However the names are very cute and nice to see a Catherine being born recently.

I don't see the similarityTo me, Caoimhe and Catherine aren't similar... nor are Roxy and Reagan. They both start with the same letter, that's all. If anything I think Caoimhe is odd next to Catherine, because it is so very very Gaelic while Catherine is not. If it was Catherine and Caitlin, I would see your point. I'm personally ok with sibling's names starting with the same letter, within reason. The Duggars are insane, but having two kids named Julia and John is pretty normal, in my opinion.

I like Roxie and Reagan--both start with R but are different enough to stand out from eachother. I don't like the other set of names.

I don't particularly care for twin names to be themey but I think you could do worse than simply having them begin with the same letter. I agree with Rachel Shaina that the names aren't particularly 'matching' otherwise. I can't think of many twins I know myself. The few I can recall are:Angela and Christina
Katie and Sally (not sure if Katie was a Katherine or not)
Harrison and Hamilton (Sister Heather, all with mother's maiden name for a middle name. Now that is a theme!)

I don't like matchy twin names nor matchy non-twin sibling names. I think it's tacky. But aside from the matching Cs, I do think Caoimhe and Catherine are cute together.

Other than the first letter being the same, these names really aren't that similar. From BA's I have found, Bryant and BryceChristopher and ChristianKorbyn and Kingstyn (boys)Nathan and NathanelRayshaun and RayonWinter and AutumnMa'Niyah and Ja'Niyah

NopeIt's actually Nathan and Nathanel-- no I. I posted it awhile ago, when I first found it: http://www.behindthename.com/bb/arcview.php?id=3533026&board=baby

Yeah, sharing the same letter sound is much preferrable to the names themselves being similar. I've seen some terrible twin BAs too... like Devin and Devon (I'd imagine they're not pronouncing them the same, then). Or the twins I know: Jenny and Jenna.

Nathan and Nathanel? Ugh! What were they thinking?

Don't like those combinations at all! I know a Kirsten and Lauren and think they sound too similar for twins too.
It makes them seem even more indistinct from one another than they already are.
