I feel in love with this clunker of a name last night as I was drifting off to sleep... specifically the spelling Kornelia, but the C-spelling is under consideration too.
So, I'll ask the dreaded question - how much does everyone hate this poor endangered-species of a name! I don't know what it is about it...maybe that O in there has me entranced. Or maybe because I just seem to love these ragged old names.

I like Cornelia! I actually rather Cornelius and Cordelia, but I have a soft spot for Cornelia. There is a woman at my kids school called Cornelia, and she is as sweet as can be. It also reminds me of a fishing vessel (the Cornelia Marie) from a show I watch. Lots of nn options (Cora, Cori, Nell, Connie) soften the clunky, old time-y-ness.

I've never given it that much thought, it's one of those names you see around but would never use. I wen to school with a Kornelia and there was also a Kornelija at Uni. They were both very nice, so I have good connotations. The only problem is they were often called Korni which i detest.

I think it is so pretty! Something about the vowels mixed together just makes it so divine.
I would be slightly nervous about using it, because I think people would be inclined to shorten it to "Corny" as a joke. If I found a nickname that I loved for it, though, I would use it. Actually, come to think of it, Cornelia nn Cora would be really neat.
ETA: Can't believe I didn't think of Nell as a nickname. Cornelia nn Nell would be gorgeous.

I named my doll Cornelia.

I think it's perfectly fine. I see it as a dated name as Cornelia and Kornelia nn Konny / Conny were very common in Germany about 50 years ago so you meet many older women with the name. I know one younger Cornelia, though (she's around twenty).
I'd definitely use Cornelia and not Kornelia. However I very much prefer Cordelia.

Well, I pretty much hate it because of the word "corn" which starts it. She might be called Corny.
But I love Cordelia. The D instead of the N makes a world of difference.

It isn't my kind of name, but that isn't a shock to anyone who knows my taste. I think it's rather awkward and, as you said, clunky.

I went to school with a girl named Cornelia (she would be 25 now) and I consider it to be a pretty, sophisticated name. It's not at all a dated name in my opinion and I like it quite a bit. I hate Cordelia though.

Thank you! I'm so glad it's considered a sophisticated name by some. I don't hate Cordelia myself - there's just something about Cornelia that makes me like it more. Maybe it's not as princessy-fussy or something.

Hmmm. I love Cornelius, Cornel and Cornelis for boys. I adore Cordelia for girls. But I've never been able to warm up to Cornelia. Maybe I just know too many Cornelias who are... uhm... not exactly my friends ;)
Nonetheless, I must admit that the combo Cornelia Juniper is quite pretty. Nell makes a cute nickname.

I really love it. Unfortunately all Cornelias I know are very, very unpleasant girls, but that didn't really taint my image of the name. I love the nickname Connie, too.

I know about seven Cornelias and only four of them better and they all somehow happen to be arrogant and cruel. :-/ I don't know why this is but it's a shame.

Holy crow, that's a lot of Cornelias. I'm sorry they are so mean - but I'm glad it hasn't coloured your perception of the name! I promise my Cornelia wouldn't be arrogant or cruel :)

No, no, no, Cornelias. Sorry. I don't know any Cordelias. I suppose Cornelia is pretty common in Germany, especially among my generation.

Oh I meant Cornelia, sorry! I actually know 2 Cordelias! I didn't know it was common in Germany, I got a lot of weird looks when I talked about it in real life!

I thought I would be laughed off the forum for Cornelia! It's oddly reassuring to see that someone else (with awesome taste, I might add) likes this name. Right on us.
I thought of using Nell as a nickname, myself... I'm not sure what would feel more natural. Maybe I should try yelling it a few times and see what slips out, lol.
Edited: Also, for the first time ever, the middle name came along with the first name - Cornelia Juniper (or Kornelia Juniper). Juniper would actually be an honouring name for me - it is the childhood nickname of my best friend, who would be the child's godparent. What do you think of that? Does that push it over the edge of quirky into unfortunately insane?? I love it so.

hrm, didn't think of that...
The band thing does make me hesitate a bit - I wonder how many people would think I had named some poor defenseless child after them... I just thought that K made it a little edgier (maybe it's because I grew up with a K-spelled C-name myself).
