[Opinions] Hermione
Do you think it's usable? Or should it stay a GP? Does it make you think of Harry Potter immediately?Do you think it'll get more common? Do you know anyone with the name? How do you pr. it?What do you think of Hermine? It's her name in the German version of the books and it's pr. her-MEE-neh.

I adore Hermione, and would use it in a heart beat given the chance. Hermione Granger leaps to mind immediately, yes, but that isn't a bad thing imo. I can see it being used more often, though I highly doubt it will even break the top 1000 in the U.S. anytime soon. I've never met a Hermione. I say her-MY-oh-nee.
I like Hermine prn the German way, but in the U.S. it would likely be said as her-mine, which sounds too much like ermine, a type of weasel.

Honestly, yes, I do think of Harry Potter immediately. However, it's a great name, and I wish people would use it despite this.I also think Ginevra is a lovely name.

Yes, it makes me think of Harry Potter (and Shakespeare too, by the way) but I think it's usable nonetheless.
I don't think it will get very common because it's not... uhm... "cute" or "girly" enough, IMO.
As for Hermine, I don't like that name at all. I do like Hermia, though.

ShakespeareI think of Shakespeare before Harry Potter, but I do think a lot of people will think of Harry Potter - it was the first time many young readers had heard of the name.I don't think that it's going to rise in popularity to any extreme. Those books became popular years ago, and Hermione is still rare on a real-life person. If you like it, use it.

I've always liked it, and Hermine is nice too.
Hermione does make me think of Hermione Granger, but it also makes me think of Shakespeare, and several actresses and a TV presenter. So I'd say it was usable - it's not as if Hermione in HP is a horrible character.

,but that is not a bad association for me. I wouldn't personally use it, but it does have potential for the next generation of baby namers.
Hermine, on the other hand...... no.I detest the nickname Hermy, though, and Hermione is a mouthful. However, Harris (a family surname of mine), Harrison, or just Harry is not overly popular and usable in the near future. Harry has found a place in my top three boys names, with Hermione in attractive, yet not practicable names category.

Harry is far more popular than Hermione.

And so is Harrison...I'd know, I have a friend by that name, causing me to look up the name's popularity.

Do you think it's usable? Or should it stay a GP? Does it make you think of Harry Potter immediately?-Yes i think it's a usable name but i think of HP immediately but thats not a bad thing i like her character (One reason i'm considering Emma because of her :) )Do you think it'll get more common? Do you know anyone with the name?-I think it'll get a little more popular but imo it'll not make in the Top 100How do you pr. it?-Hermione: her-MEE-o-nee (kind of like that)
-Hermine: Her-MEE-nehWhat do you think of Hermine? It's her name in the German version of the books and it's pr. her-MEE-neh.-I prefer it over Hermione but maybe just because i'm German and Hermione is just looks and sounds weird to me (I read the books in German and watched the movies in English)
I would consider Hermine as a MN (since my DH name is Herman)
One of my neigbour moms (in Germany) name was Hermine. She was a very nice person and everybody liked her alot.

It makes me think of Harry Potter, but that's not a bad thing for me. On a real child I think it's usable, on a character it's too much Harry Potter. I don't really think it will get popular, and I don't know anyone named this. I dislike Hermine.

I do automatically think of Harry Potter, but that's not a bad association (to most people), so I think it's perfectly usable. I do think that it'll get more common, but not ridiculously common--I doubt this name will ever be #1, but I may be wrong. I don't know anyone named Hermione, and I pronounce it "her-MI-o-nee", and I like it better than Hermine, which makes me think of the name Herman, which I don't like.

LOVE it. In my top at the moment, and I'm contemplating whether or not to keep it as a GP, too. her-MY-own-ee.

-I think it's usable, but will inevitably be tied to HP for quite some time. I would keep it in the GP category.Do you think it will get more common? Do you know anyone with the name?
-I think it will only become common among HP nerds. No, I have never known anyone with this name. How do you pr. it?
-Her-MY-oh-nee.What do you think of Hermine? It's her name in the German version fo the books and it's pr. her-MEE-neh.
-I don't care for it at all.

I tend to think it's unusable because I think that it is very unattractive, and I think that the majority of the general population thinks so, too. I believe it is appreciated only by name-nerds. I don't think that anyone who gives this name to their daughter is doing her any favors. I don't think of Harry Potter, because I've only read one half of the first Harry Potter book and that's it, and never seen any of the movies.I don't believe it will get more common, and I've never known anyone with the name Hermione.I pronounce it Her-MY-ah-nee. I don't like Hermine at all.

It's usable. I do think of Harry Potter, but in my mind, that's not a bad thing. I think the books have done good for the name. I don't think it'll get more common, at least not soon. I do know one girl named Hermione, though. She's 11 years old.I prefer Hermione to Hermine.

Well, I do think it's useable...J.K. Rowling didn't find it just anywhere...it's actually kind of popular in England. Not a top 100 name, but it's much more popular over in England than it is in America...in America you're more likely to see Persephone...the few American Hermione's almost always have a sister named Persephone.
I love Hermione...it's in my top 10. I like the combo Hermione Alexandra, and yes, I think we will start to see more (I'm already seeing more, along with Persephone and Calliope) but no, I don't know anyone by the name Hermione because I think J.K. Rowling exposed the name to America where before Hermione was just an obscure Greek mythological name that just so happened to be popular in England and have a popular equivalent in Germany.
I pronounce it just like they pronounce it in the movies...her-mayan-ee.
I love Hermine, and yes, I know that it's her name in the German version...I happen to own Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen.

I really like the name, but I think at this time most people would associate it with Harry Potter. However, that isn't really a bad thing in this case, because Hermione is a good character. Even if someone thought you named a baby after Hermione Granger, they wouldn't think you named your daughter after someone stupid, evil, or annoying. And the upside of this is most people will know the pronunciation and spelling. (her-my-oh-nee)So I do think this name is usable.I like the pronunciation of Hermine, but unless you live somewhere where it is at least somewhat common, people wouldn't know how to say it.
