[Opinions] Martha and Cassandra
Just curious as to opinions on these.Martha is a new love, though I'm surprised it's taking me this long to put it on my list. It has everything I'm looking for - the M sound, biblical, used consistently, classic, earthy. Cassandra is an old one that I'm half liking, half not. Of the two I'm far more likely to use Martha than Cassandra.Thanks.

Martha is short and sweet and I love it. Cassandra is okay, but nms.

I love Cassandra. Martha is nice, but feels dated imo, but not in an unusable way. It knew a few Martha growing up. Cassandra somehow became very... bohemian to me, and I don't know how. In my head, its a "cool" name.

I love the name Cassandra after years of liking only Cassie.I am not a fan of Martha at all. It's too old-fashioned and not in a good way for me. I just picture Victorian servant girls or farm girls or something. But that's probably just me! However, it has made a comeback here so I think it could be on the way up in America as well.

I like Martha, and Cassandra is okay. I prefer Cassiopeia, though.

I like Martha, it is a freshly revived name that I think has some real class. It is also the name of my great-grandmother, and my great-great-great-grandmother.Cassandra I find to be a little 80s. I'd stick with Martha.

Martha is growing on me, I still can't see it on a little girl but it is a very warm name. I like Cassandra but I really don't like Cassie

Growing up, Martha was the name of my neighbor's sheep dog so that's the immediate association I get.Cassandra is not something I care for. Cassie is cute but not a name I'd ever use. I dislike the -sandra ending.

I really like Martha. It is very kind, sweet, and hospitable. And I love the Mar- sound. And I like the nn Marty, if the girl were to be a little more energetic and quirky than Martha.Cassandra is just okay for me. I link it too much with my generation-ish.

I love Martha. I think it is so sweet and homey and definitely about ready for a comeback. Cassandra is a name I have never been able to like and there is no really good reason for it. I like the similar Alexandra and Alessandra but Cassandra just sounds prissy. I hate the nn Cassie as well which kind of seems inevitable.

Well, I like both, but like you, I'm far more likely to use Martha. It's my favorite name, it's beautiful, very old and English, while Cassandra is kind of hippie...I'm not exactly a hippie...more like a Christian-conservative military brat.

Cassandra is nice, but it doesn't have that wow factor or that beauty that Martha has! I've known three Marthas, one who was in her 40's who went by Marty, one who was in her twenties who went by Mimi or just plain Martha, and one who would be about 6 now who was nicknamed Marley. So, really cute to me!

I love Cassandra. It has that delicious magic and mystery around it. I hate the nn Cassie, though; Cassandra nn Andra or Cassandra nn Cassa is a little lighter without making it boring or trashy. It's harder for me to like Martha since I tend to go for bolder, maybe flashier names, but I really love how warm and earthy it is. If you want to use it, go for it! It's definitely a solid, just nice name. Good choices, both of them.

Cassandra is a pretty name, but Martha has never done much for me.

Martha has been growing on me lately. I like that this not a "sweet" name but rather an "earthy" one, as you said.
I'm not too fond of Cassandra, though.

I don't like Martha. I think it is a very old name that sounds ridiculous on a little girl today. I think Cassandra is fine. I like the nickname Cassie well enough. I would go with Cassandra nn Cassie. =]

I agree with you.7

And Cassie/Cassandra will sound ridiculous on a little girlwhen Martha is fresh again. :-D

Not where I live it's not. We have alot of Cassies on babies but no Marthas. But that's just my opinion.

I like Cassandra (has very nice possible NNs as well), but I really dislike Martha.
