I love the sylvan meaning, and I've always had a close affinity with it because it's my own name. :) I'm Sylvia Anne (MN comes from my grandmothers, Ann & Anna).
I've met other Sylvias, but very few my age. I think it will get more popular, but right now I enjoy having a less-than-common name.
(If you want to know, I have 3 sisters named Victoria, Leandra, & Geneva. My brothers' names are mostly for honouring, so they are a different style.)
