[Opinions] Avery and Bailey
Replies
Both names were on my possibles list when I had my son. Although I don't mind Avery on a girl, I still visualize a boy when I hear both names.
Definitely better on boys, though it wouldn't be a big deal if they were used on girls. I've only heard Avery being used for a girl fairly recently, though, like in the last ten years. Before then, it was strictly a boys' name.
Totally boys. I can't see either of the name on a girl and I think it's quite horrible that they are being used on girls, just like Rowan.
It makes a change!
But i like them better on girls.
But i like them better on girls.
Whenever a name crosses over from boys to girls, I start disliking it on both genders. I just don't like androgynous names.
I don't like Avery but to me it works better on boys. I like Bailey more on girls but it's still cute on boys.
While I think that is great to be unique, they will never be immediately recognized as either male or female by name. If they are, most assumptions will go toward girl (not that it is a bad thing, but not their reality).
It will be a pain and, while cute now, by the time they are 10 - the novelty will have worn off and they'll be irritated. We already operate in a written and oral society where assumptions are made....they will constantly have to deal with this throughout their life.
Cute, but not good naming choices.
