I'm Australian and I've never heard it! It's very unlikely that this is an Australian variation as we tend to be fairly traditional namers compared to America. It's not an Aboriginal-sounding name so I suggest that Jamus is just a variation of James that's had "Australian" tagged on to it to make it sound interesting. :-)
