Ten years have flown by for the Kingdom of Esterfield. King Robert and Queen Amelie are still in good health, though both are feeling the effects of their aging. King Robert has been making preparations to hand over his throne to Crown Prince Octavian and to take a long-awaited vacation. The king has involved the Crown Prince in his proceedings since he was eighteen, so Octavian already knows most of what he needs to rule a country. The people are excited about the plans Crown Prince Octavian has for the kingdom, and they are awaiting their new king with anticipation, though there will be sorrow that King Robert no longer rules.

Crown Prince Octavian and Princes Oceane have welcomed a second son, Prince Benjamin Kent Lothair, who is now seven. Their children are growing quickly. Princess Sylvie expresses great interest in the things of the kingdom. Prince Marcus seems less enthralled, but does enjoy animals and doing scientific experiments with the royal tutors. Prince Benjamin is too energetic for his own good and spends his days running around outside and swimming in the river.

Alice and Francois had a second daughter, Azure, six years ago. Violet and Azure get along well and spend their days painting and playing with dolls.

Princess Beth and Prince Titus have not been able to have children. The doctors say that both of them are infertile, and that there is no chance of them having children naturally. Both Beth and Titus are crushed because they did so wish to have a house full of small children.

Princess Helen has always been weak and delicate, though she has married the Duke of Mallowgold. Three years ago, they welcomed twins, Matthias and Martha. Helen had a lot of trouble with the pregnancy, but everyone is now well recovered and life is back to normal.

Princess Sarah has also made a full recovery, much to the surprise of the doctors. Six years ago she married Prince Edmund Sebastian Stuart of Viridian. Shortly after their marriage, she had twins, Prince Edmund and Princess Anna. They are now five years old and thriving.

Prince Laurent has remained melancholy and withdrawn. Nonetheless, he has courted and decided to marry Princess Sophia Annette of Northcliff. Sophia is an outspoken, happy young lady whom King Robert hopes will turn Prince Laurent back into the happy lad he was before Prince Henrik died.
