There is a crisis in the kingdom. Alexander VII, the Crown Prince of Lochbarrow, and his wife of over ten years, Princess Katharina, are unable to have children. Being the Crown Prince, if he does not provide a heir when he is king, a child of Prince Barnabas will become the heir. And since Barnabas is currently the Duke of Cheye, this would not be appropriate, according to some. What will be done?
There is good news as well, of course - the grandchildren! Sebastian, Myfanwy, Cosmas, Julitta, Bartholomew, and Sapphira have all arrived in the past ten years. The most miraculous birth was Estelle's, who despite her life-long health problems, managed to give birth to twins!
King Alexander VI is reaching 60 now, and he's getting weaker by the day. Next in line to the throne, of course, is Alexander VII, but with no apparent chance of a heir being born to him and his wife, the kingdom doesn't feel ready for him to take over...
