Twist: Many things have happened over the last 5 years. About 3 years ago you moved to Italy, France, or Spain (house would be 5 bedroom, 3 bath in each). Which one did you move to and why?
Alex and I have always been travel fanatics but with the kids being born so early in our marriage, we were never able to go anywhere. So when Alex was offered a job opportunity in Europe we jumped at it. He had the chance to go to either Spain or France, and after a long talk we agreed on Spain because of our common ancestral roots there.
About a month after you moved you rushed your second oldest to the hospital. Her heart is failing and they put in a pacemaker. How does that make you feel?
Lina is our angel and to see this happening to our little girl was devastating. We're getting through this and I couldn't even begin to explain how thankful I am to have been able to save my baby.
After a month she recovers perfectly but that is not the end of your troubles, soon you get a call from home saying that your niece’s parents are going to jail for child abuse. The court wants you to take her in. When you go to bring her home you find her bruised, with a broken rib. How does that make you feel?
I couldn't even believe it. When Jacob (Alex's brother) and his wife got divorced, she vouched for full custody of Samantha Garcia and my brother-in-law lost his daughter. After he lost his battle to cancer, Jacob's ex-wife got remarried and it was only after we adopted Samantha (now Jayla) that we learnt her mother and step-father were raging alcoholics who frequently neglected and abused the poor child. We were more than angry and hoped that she would be able to fully recover in our care.
How does she get along with your children?
The kids get along great, especially since they are all relatively close in age. Jayla and Josie in particular are like partners-in-crime. We're so happy that she can now live in a safe home with four new siblings to form lifelong relationships with.
About 9 months ago you found your self pregnant once again. Were you pleased? What about the kids? Your hubby? Adopted niece? Other family?
This time we actually skipped the panic attack for once and went straight to the excitement. We had no financial or space issues and knew we were capable of supporting another baby. All of the kids are super-excited, and with the gender ratio being 4:2, the Alex and Ben were absolutely ready to add another member to their side! I think, if anything, this will make Jayla feel even more like part of the family since she will be present while one of her siblings are born and while they grow up only knowing her as a sister. The family is more than happy for us, but they are sad that they won't be able to constantly watch our babies grow up.
Anything else you want to say? Also have any ideas for the next rounds?
Honestly if I had any ideas I would tell you! I'll PM if anything but I'll just say that you're doing a great job!
