[Facts] Scottish names.
We are soon to get a very lovely puppy of Scottish origin. We are considering the names Hamish or Alpin. What do you think? What do you know about these names? We have had two other of these dogs (Bearded Collies) that we named Aonghas and (St.) Mungho. We really want to stick to a Scottish name or meaning.
It's such a hard desicision!
Thanks for any suggestions and feedback!!
PS: It's a boy!

Hamish is the Anglo spelling of Sheumais, Scottish version of James.
Alpin is the Anglo version of Ailpein which has not obvious Gaelic etymology and is widely assumed to be Pictish.
Mungho should be Mungo (extra letters does not authentic Gaelic make) and Aonghas is simply *modern* Gaelic of Angus (the desire to make the simple complex is widely shared in the Western world) so either seems to fit in nicely.

Where I live, there's a brand of dry dog food called Alpo. Alpin might be one to avoid ...
