It's a modern Hebrew name. This name didn't exists before 1948.
It means "a new branch", a small newlyborn twig...It's a very beautiful name but unfortunately most people don't know how to pronounce it properly. The emphasis is on the first syllable.

Well actually....Ilanit is sometimes a pet form of Ilana. Some of my relatives call me this.(I don't like it) And as far as pronounciation goes, they pick the first or second syllable to stress. Another pet form is Ilanale.(ee-LAH-nah-leh)Hope I helped!

you know egypt is greek the true name of that land in Africa is Kemet mean "Land of the Black People".

Nope. Kemet refers to the fertile black soil washed down by the Nile, contrasted with the dry red sands of the desert. Black soil, not black people. Anyway, this isn't exactly name-related, is it?

Where is your information from? Smadar Shir Sidi, The Complete Book of Hebrew Baby Names gives the same meaning as this site does. And it puts the stress on the last syllable. This is how I heard this name, too. I can't find the meaning "a new branch " anywhere. Even Shoshan's three volume dictionary says:
ILANIT: tree frog (hyla arborea).
Langenscheidt-Achiasav also gives: pyramid cake as a meaning
