[Opinions] Which nickname for Alexandria?
Okay, I'm trying to get used to a nickname for Alexandria which I prefer in its full form. She should have the option of a nickname, I guess. Not sure how much I'll be able to influence what she'll go by (I hope when I always call her by her full name or a certain nickname occasionally she'll identify with it).So I understand that Alexandria is a bit of a mouthful and I decided to go through all of its nicknames to see if I could find something I like.I do love Sasha, but prefer it on its own so Sasha is out of question. I just don't understand how you get it out of the Alex-names. I know it's legit but I really prefer Sasha on its own.I thought of Ali. What do you think? Do you know many girls who go by Ali? I know there are heaps of Alisons out there. Worried she'll grow up around several Alis. I also kind of like Al as a very very occasional nickname. It's kind of cute. So, if you had to use a nickname for Alexandria, which one would it be and why? Which ones do you like?WDYTO:Ali
Al
Lex
Lexi
Alex
Alexa
Sasha
Sandra
Sandy
Dria
Dree
Lexia
Xandra
Xandy
Lexaetcfor Alexandria?Thanks for your help.

I like Lexie the best. I know it is really trendy but I can't help it!
Andy might be another possibility. Or Alexia? Or Alexei?

I'd use either Sandy, Sandra or Xandra after my mum Sandra OR Ally.

Alex is by far my favorite, but Ali and Sasha are nice too.Funny enough, we were at the zoo today and I saw a grandmother calling after a toddler, and she was yelling "Alexandria!" Then she called her Alex after yelling her full name a few times. So I'd imagine that little girl goes by Alexandria sometimes. Neato.

I like Al, Alex, Ally (spelled this way), Alexa, Sasha, and Dria. Dria is kind of cool.Guess I wasn't any help in narrowing it down, huh?

Perhaps just use whatever comes naturally?I don't mind Sasha. How about Andria?

I like Allie (dislike Ali), Sandra, and Xandra. My only problem is Sandra and Xandra sound almost the same when I say them, not sure if you have the same problem. I love Sasha, but I see it as a masculine name, same goes for Alex. I think the best nickname is Mireio's suggestion of Ria. It's more unexpected compared to the typical Alex's and Lexi's. I have a friend named Marie who goes by Rie so Alexandria "Ria" would work nicely for me.

Ria is out of questionOne of my best friends is Ariane "Ria" and I spend a lot of time with her. I think it would be confusing to have two Rias around. I like it, though.

Alexandria is a past favourite of mine which I eventually discarded as I couldn't find a nickname that I loved. My favourite was "Lux" though but that may only work with a Scottish accent (I pronoune Alexandria as aluks-and-ree-ah not alix-and-ree-ah). I thought about Ally or Allie (I could never decide on spelling but I have an Uncle Ali so that was out) but like you mentioned I know an Alison "Ali". I also thought about Lexia or Lexa quite a bit. Al is sweet as a sometimes-nickname like my family very occasionally jokingly call me George. I like it but would hate that being my full-time name. Now that you have mentioned it though, I do love Sasha, particularly for Alexandria/Alexander.

I like Allie (spelled this way) a lot, but if I had to choose a nn for Alexandria I would pick Lexie (this spelling). At least with Lexie people would know it was short for Alexandria or Alexandra, but if people hear Allie they will probably assume the full name is Allison.

I'd choose Lex. I've known to many snobby girls that go by Ali and Lexi, and Alex is all boy to me.

I like Lex, Alex, Sasha, but for a boy. For a girl I like Mireio's suggestion of Ria and from your list Lexi and Lexa because they're not very common.

Really? I thought most Alexandras/Alexandrias went by Lexi, actually.

Lexi is probably most popular here in the US as a nn for Alexandra/Alexandria, too.

Well, you have to keep in mind that I live in Croatia:-)
All non-Croat Alexandras I've met were Alex and in Croatia the nicknames for Aleksandra/Aleksandar are Sandi (m), Aleks (m), Aco (m) (pr. Ah-tzo), Sasha (m&f), Aleksa (f). I guess that in UK/US Lexie might be more dominant.

I'm sorry, but I honestly don't like any of them. This is my big problem with Alexandra/Alexandria; I only like them in full, and that's a difficult thing to enforce. If I have to pick, I guess I'll go with Dria. The only Alexandria I've met went by Dria. It was a little different without being a stretch, and it emphasized that her full name was Alexandria, not Alexandra.

She would definitely still be Alexandria most of the timeit's just in case people would always shorten it to Alex or something (which I can't stand) I could at least correct them to use Ali or maybe even Sasha instead. Ali and Sasha are nicknames for it I could stand or would even like (even though I still prefer Sasha on its own), but I don't think I could live with Alex, Lexi or Lex.

I would use Ria as a nn for Alexandria. From the others; Alex is ok, and Ali (but I prefer the spelling Ally)

Thanks, but Ria wouldn't work. I have a friend named Ariane "Ria" and we spend a lot of time together so it would be extremely confusing.
