When the national statistics are compiled regarding popularity of first names, how are hyphenated names included?

For example the name Ellie-May

Do they just take into account the first name eg. ELLIE ?
Take the full name including the hyphen eg. ELLIE-MAY ?
Or remove the hyphen eg. ELLIEMAY ?
