I never really liked it until I listened to an F.
Scott FitzGerald story on CD. (I'm so lazy.) The character was named
Sally Carol. She was from the (U.S.) South and was visiting the North. The Northerners kept trying to shorten her name to
Sally, but she liked the sound of
Sally Carol. In her soft, Southern accent I had to admit that it was very pretty. That's what got my turned around on the name
Sally.
I know a woman with an 11 year old dd
Sally. I should ask her the next time we meet where her name comes from -- whether she's named after someone or the parents just liked the name.
Sally Ann is a little unimaginative. But in a world of Brytnees and Madysyns perhaps a
Sally Ann would make a nice change after all.
I'm still rooting for
Betty Jean. But
Sally Ann would make an adorable sister for her.
