Ashley and Monique welcomed their second son, Lucian, in 1906. In 1909, Monique gave birth to twins, Dorothy and Mathilda. While Dorothy was healthy and strong, Mathilda was always very weak, and she died of the fever a little over a year after her birth. It was very heartbreaking for the family. On the bright side, Ashley’s general store has expanded and is doing incredibly well.
