[Opinions] Barbie?!
We got our yearbooks today, and as I was flipping through it, I did a double take when i caught sight of a certain blonde haired girl's name. Her name was Barbie.Barbie. And she's a 15-year-old. Barbie!!What do you think??

Barbie is short for Barbra. Now Barbie dolls are so popular it probably isn't a nice name to have.

I have a cousin called Barbie. But she has brown hair and is in her twenties. I don't think there is anything wrong with the name appart from the association with the doll but there is a baby doll called Baby Annabelle and that hasn't put anyone off the name Annabelle as far as I know.

That doll isn't NEARLY as well known as the Barbie doll.

Good point.

Well I think it is fine. Barbie is usually a nn for Barbara anyways. I knew a girl that went by Barbie. My mom is also a Barbara but she goes by Barb but sometimes people call her Barbie.

Barbie's kinda cute, and i have to say Barbara's growing on me. It gives off an early 60s vibe.

Barbara nn Barbie would be cute on a baby girl today. Very retro 40s/50s

Oh, it's not all that bad. I'm sure it's just a nickname for Barbara or something.

I hope to God it is lol

I don't really like it, but I'm used to it. I used to work with a lady named Barbie (she's around 40). Despite my dislike for the name, she at least gives it a good association.

I don't like it.

I can't see naming a child Barbie. The doll is too well-known, and I think that the doll has given the name an "airhead" image, despite Mattel's later efforts to correct it.Besides, it's too nicknamey on its own. It should be a nickname for Barbara, and Barbara is one name I really despise.

It's dated... and little to dated for my taste. I'm not a big fan of anything 'Barbara' related.

Eh.As long as she has Barbara to fall back on if she wants to, I don't see a problem.

That's the thing. She doesn't.

I think it's fine, andI would think it could easily be a nn for Barbara. There are some very famous twins named Barbara and Jenna. People do name their girls Barbara even today. And if it's just Barbie on its own, well, so? Meh. Seen way worse.

Well, actually, I know Barbie. It's not a nickname. She's told me that, unless she was lying, which is a pretty easy thing to do...I've just never seen it before. Except on my dolls.

The doll is named after the creator's daughter, nicknamed Barbie.
