It is cute on the right kid, but I don't like it on anyone above the age of about 7- so it needs a full name IMO.
My favourite full names for it are Annora and Anais. I also really love Annelie which is a form of my mn. Andromeda nn Anna is a GP of mine and that could work with Annie too (although I do appreciate the fact it is quite out there :-p)
