LOL, I've never even thought about pronouncing Cecil SEES-ul, it's so awkward! I think it's horrible if pr. SEES-ul, honestly. SESS-il works much better, imho. ;)

That's how all the Cecils I know pronounce it.And sess is really not a nice sound to me at all. Reminds me of cesspools.

I say SEE-sull. There is a county near where I grew up called Cecil County and that is how it is said. SESS-ull is a little less severe though; I agree.

It's listed here as a pronunciationPlus that's how my friend pronounces it. It's his middle name (Richard Cecil, in case you're interested).

YupI had an art teacher who was named Cedric, prn SEE-drik. He said he didn't know why his parents chose to pronounce it that way.
