Both are good. Karl always makes me think of Karl Marx if that matters at all. We are actually considering Carl if we have a boy - due in July.

Even though the only Carl I know spells it with a C and I usually prefer Cs over Ks, I like Karl better. The K just looks right with the other letters.

I always liked Karl better, even though I've never really cared for either one.
