[Opinions] Nathan
What do you think of the name Nathan?I have no idea what this baby is going to be named (Grant and I can't agree on anything) but I am starting to like this again. The thing is it was going to be Skye's name if she was a boy, if we used it for this baby would it matter?TIA.

It's a nice name (actually I prefer it Noah, though Noah is nice as well), and I really don't see an issue at all with the fact it was supposed to be Skye's name if she'd been a boy.

I prefer Nathaniel. I have a bad association with a Nathan. But I think it's fine to use even if you did have it picked out for Skye.Haven't had a chance to tell you yet- congrats on your little boy :)

Thankyou. :)

I like this name; it is also the name of one of my cousins. As for reusing name choices, I don't see anything wrong with it.

I think Nathan is a fabulous name! It's strong, yet very sweet.
Extremely handsome! I see nothing wrong with reusing a name choice. I have my set names, and if this is a girl, I still plan on using Wynn on the next boy and vice versa! My little brother was named what I would have been if I had the right parts, and I was named what my older brother would have been if he had the right parts!I've always loved the combo Nathan Andrew. Ooh and Nathan Grant!

Thanks, I guess it wouldn't matter if we used it (thats if Grant can warm to it) if I ever had another girl I'd want her name to be Willow which was going to be this baby's name if it was a girl.

I think it doesn't matter that Nathan was your boy name when you were pregnant with Skye. It's not as if you found fault with the name and rejected it for not being good enough...you just had a kid with the wrong plumbing to be a Nathan, that's all. Lots of little brothers and sisters end up with names that were under consideration during earlier pregnancies. It's okay. That said, I've never cared for Nathan. It's very nasal. I much prefer Noah. Has Grant rejected it?

He thinks its a "gay name" (whatever that means) though with Nathan he said "everyones name is Nathan" so I have no idea what this baby is going to be named. We can't agree on anything and everytime I ask him for suggestions he just shrugs his shoulders. Its frustrating.

Nathan is a fine name. Good for all phases of life. And no, it wouldn't matter at all, that you would have used it, had Skye been a boy, I don't think.

I quite like it. My grandfather's name was Nathan, and I was named in his honor. Apparently it's on the top 1000, but I've only met one Nathan. I don't think giving your son a name you might have used on another child would be a problem. Only if you'd named Skye Nathana / Natana / Natania instead!

I think it's perfectly fine to use a name you had picked out for one kid if they turn out to be the other gender. That's what's going to happen to us when we have a girl. I don't see how there could be anything wrong with that.I think Nathan is an alright name. It's pretty popular (or at least Nathaniel is) around here it seems. I don't particularly like Nathan, but I don't dislike it either.

I think it's a perfectly reasonable thing to do - it was a name you liked enough to want to use on Skye, so assuming you still like it, it would make perfect sense to use it on the next child who's a boy.I'm not a huge fan of Nathan, the vowel is a little nasal. I prefer Nathaniel.
