[Opinions] WDYTO Jarvis?

I have the complete opposite image of the name than queenv. I see Jarvis as a good name for a snooty butler.
I don't care for it at all. It's very harsh.

Love it!
I really love it, its such a handsome and under used name :)

Ditto.
We call the little boy at my work Jarv, Jarvs or Jarvy...none of which I really like. Most of the time he is called just Jarvis though. The lack of nn possibilities is a problem actually...
Tale of Two Cities! The only place I've heard it. So I can't really separate the association. But it's an excellent book, and the character, Jarvis Lorry, is a wonderful one.
I like it. A good name. I'd certainly use it.
I like it, but I wouldn't use it myself. To me it just doesn't sound like a kid. It sounds good as a teenager or an adult, but I can't really see it on a kid... "Hey Jarvis, want to play tag... Give the barbie back to your sister, Jarvis.... Hey Jarvis, let's go get ice cream..." Nah. He would need a nicname while he was little in my opinion.
I agree, but...
Seeing as how a person is a teenager/adult for the majority of their life, I find it refreshing to hear a strong sounding name that would age well.
And to answer the OP I do like Jarvis. Not enough to use myself but it's definitely a name that would grow on me. I think it's something about the "jar" sound that throws me off. I would be happy to meet a little Jarvis though.

It sounds really redneck to me. "Hey, my name is Jarvis. I'm an unemployed tobacco picker. I'm a God-fearin' gun-toter. Someday I'll fix that ole pickup that's been sittin' in my yard for the last three years. Want some chaw?"
Hehe, that is interesting! It is funny how different people's perspectives and associations can be. I was just thinking that perhaps Jarvis was too pompous sounding. To me it is almost too spoilt private school boy.
I kind of like it
