Is Finty a diminutive of another name, or a name on its own? I love the name, but I can't seem to find any information on what it's short for. I was thinking maybe Fintan, but I'm not sure how it could have become a English and feminine name also, as Fintan is masculine and (anglicized) Irish. Finty definitely does not sound like an Irish diminutive. Does anyone have any more information?
