[Opinions] What do you think about masculine nicknames on girls?
Personally, I love the nicknames Alex and Dani on girls. I could never use a nickname like Billie, though, and I've never been a fan of Jo. What do you think about nicknames like these on girls and what are your favorites?

They're fine I suppose, as long as they stay as nicknames. For some reason I think the nickname Davi (DAY-vee) on a girl would be kind of neat.
Love them
I have Bobbie, Frankie, Georgie and Mattie on my PNL. I would use a longer name because although some nicknames can stand on their own I don't think those can (possibly Georgie could). However, I prefer the nickname to the longer name, except in the case of Frankie where I prefer Frances.

My aunt has always been Jo, and her daughter is Dani Jo, so I'm fine with both. There's an Alexia in 6th grade that now suddenly wants to be called Alex. Her mom, another teacher there, was a bit heartbroken by that, because that's her little girl. Playing football with her twin brother and their friends, so what, but her dd is Alexia or Lexie to her. I have no problem personally.
I love Alex on a girl. Not Alexandra, not Alexia, not Alexandrina...just Alex. I think the name is strong enough to hold it's own.
Dani, I don't really care for. I think Frankie, Jamie, and Martie work well for girls. Their not TOO masculine.

I must confess that although I am not a fan of most masculine nicknames on girls, I myself have two. My grandfather calls me Gianni (Sounds more or less like Johnny) and my friends in high school called me Gio.
To me, masculine nicknames as feminine nicknames are generally more acceptable for girls if the ending is a long e (Like Freddie for Winfred or Gianni for Giovanna) or something like that.

I've been becoming a fan of Max for Maxine (and the like). A few others too, Alex and Chris I've always sort of viewed as unisex in nickname form.
Love them on condition
I love them but only if they are a nickname of something longer.
like;
Alexandra - Alex
Danielle - Dani
Wilhelmina - Billie
Josephine - Joe
I also like:
Thomasina - Tommy
Harriet - Harry
Henrietta - Henri
Charlotte - Charlie

I generally think masculine nicknames on girls are pretty spunky as long as they are short for a feminine name. Not all of them are ones I would necessarily consider for a daughter of my own, but I appreciate them.
Some of my favourites are:
Alexandra nn Alex
Wilhelmina nn Billie
Francesca or Frances nn Frankie
Charlotte nn Charlie
Augusta nn Gus

Years ago, there was a TV series called "Sisters" about sibs who all had masculine nns. I loved the concept.
Alexandra, nn Alex
Theodora, nn Teddy
Georgiana, nn Georgie
Francesca, nn Frankie
Charlotte, nn Charley
I could picture myself using some of those. ;-) I actually prefer Alex more for a girl than for a boy. For the most part, though, I'd be more inclined to use a feminine form of a masculine name than a masculine nn for a girl.

I am partial to Winifred "Fred". But generally, not really.
Some of them I like and some of them I dislike. I don't have a general opinion of them.
I've always loved Alex on a girl, although I find it boring on a boy. I'd name my daughter Alexandra and call her Alex. I also like Dani, Frankie, and Jo. But I dislike Chris, Charlie, Billie, and Bobbie. I'm neutral on Jamie, although I guess on a girl it isn't a nickname. I can't really think of any others right now.

I think they're fine, in fact I'm a big fan of some, like Jo and Frankie (from Josephine and Francesca). I also like: Charlie (might use it if I end up using Carlotta), Toby (although I like it just as a name on its own), Billie, and Andie.
I think everything goes as a nickname. I really don't have any favourite names but I know a lot of girls that go by Chris or Kris (though Chrissi or Krissi are more common), Alex, Andy, Jules, Charlie, Tony, etc.
(I really dislike Dani, though. For some reason, people are unable to pronounce it the correct way, so I went over to spelling it Danny, which... didn't help. At all. I go by Ela now.)
