A strange thing comes over me when I pronounce Tara. I say it with a short "a" as if I'm from New York, which I'm not. Between the two you have listed, I'm closer to the "TEH-ruh" sound.
It's not dated to me because I'm Irish. But I can see how others might be tired of it. But that means that there won't be many Taras in this newest generation, so your dd's name would be unique among her circle.
