[Opinions] Thandiwe?
WDYT? Pronunciation? What does it remind you of? What animal does it sound like?

Isn't this actress Thandie Newton's real name? I believe her mother is from Africa and the name is used in her country. I don't mind it, but I keep wanting to pronounce '-diwe' as '-dive'.
ETA: Yes, it's her name. Her Mom is from Zimbabwe.
The name "Thandiwe" means "beloved"in Ndebele, Zulu, Xhosa or Swazi and the name "Thandie" is pronounced Tan-dee.

I pronounce it tahn-DEE-weh. I think it's a lovely name. It sounds like it would belong to a human animal, lol.
It actually sounds neat. I pronounced it Than-dee-wee. I like the exotic sound of it. It could be a GP for me. :) Animal wise it reminds me of an Ocelot.
