Elisabeth is the prettier spelling, imo, but I'd only use it if the nn is actually derived from this (
Elisa,
Elise,
Elsa,
Lisette,
Liese,
Lisa, etc.). The reason why is because it's more likely to be misspelled as
Elizabeth (at least in the US). No, it's not weird to choose a different spelling for your dd. My sister is
Lisa and her dd's mn is
Elisabeth. OTOH, my dh's sister is
Lisa and her dd's name is
Elizabeth. There's no right or wrong here.
