I love it. I used to kind of like it, and then I re-read the book by Roald Dahl and fell in love with it. I keep it as a mn for Claire, because I don't like any of the nns that would come from Matilda.
I think it's quite popular in Australia (and has been for a long time) mainly because of the song 'Waltzing Matilda'. Then Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams used it (probably partly because of it's Australian popularity) and now it's catching on a little in the US as a result.

I don't know what siblings I'd put with it. Probably just my usual set of names: Claire, Nathaniel, Sarah, Violet. Classic-ish names.

I strongly prefer Clotilda.

I am not a huge fan but it is a sweet refreshing name. I think names like Matilda, Susan, Estella and Ivy may become the Sophias, Isabellas and Lilys in a few years. I would pair Matilda in a sibset with other refreshing underused names such as Faye, Pearl, Rosa, Minnie, etc....

I love it, but it is quite popular where I live (ranked number 26 I think...so popular enough that it is not uncommon to meet one or hear of one) and I generally prefer Mathilde. I am not a fan of the nn Tilda though (it sounds frumpy and old-ladyish to me), I am more of a Mattie fan. Or even Tilly.

I love it, but I'm worried it's on the verge of popping onto the charts soon. It seems like one of those trendy classics, but don't let it discourage you from using it if that doesn't bother you. It gives off a fun and sweet personality to me. I sort of like Tilda, but not enough to use it. I like just plain Matilda with no nickname.
