Madeline has been one of my favourites for as long as I can remember- in fact, when I was 19 and pregnant with my first baby, I was going to name her Madeline, if it was a girl. I think Maddy (prefer Maddie) is an adorable nickname, and who cares if people think of "mad" when they hear it? As to pronunciation, I like Mad-a-LINE better, even though Mad-a-lyn is pretty.
