[Opinions] Octuplets Names!!
Replies
She may have singlehandedly bludgeoned the Old Testament to death. The only ones I like are Noah, Jonah and Josiah, but I do not think she should have named them so similarly. Had it been me (lol!), I would have chosen a different letter initial for each child, and had the names be contrasting yet complementary.

Benjamin
Samuel
Jacob

Just as expected... the girls got screwed.
Jonah, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Noah, Josiah- all are at least tolerable, real names.
McCai got screwed, certainly, but Nariah and Maliah not only sound alike, but a) are made up, and b) in the case of Maliah, unnecessarily misspelled (and nothing upset me more than names that are misspelled for no reason what so ever- what's wrong with Malia?).

Nariah and Isaiah are cool, but why oh why do parents of large families feel the need to give their kids theme names?
I just read an article online and wondered if anyone posted the names yet. I read the names and I felt that McCai didn't go well considering she went with the "ah" theme. Unless she is pronouncing it differently then I am. I am not sure how she is pronouncing McCai.

I really hate the -ah theme. The style is all over the board, too. They're not all bad individually but I dislike the set overall.
I hate the -ah theme. Like Noah, Jonah, Isaiah and Josiah, though.
I like all the names except Nariah and McCai.
In addition to all her other obvious problems, this lady seems to have an H addiction.
And what's with McCai? How come he or she doesn't have an H?

Meh....unimaginative and blah, but not awful. Except McCai which looks like a typo. Micaiah would've been a sight better than McCai and more interesting.
I like Noah, Jonah, Isaiah and Josiah. I guess Maliah and Nariah are girls? Malia and Naria would have been nice (and she even managed to get a celebrity name in there (Malia Obama)).
The only one I hate and don't get is McCai (how is it pronounced, like McKay?). And the whole -h thing is not to my taste, but not as bad as I thought it would be.
Does anyone know what her other children are named?

lol, poor McCai
First, that's a terrible spelling of Mekai / Mekhi, which I'd usually like. And he's the only one without an -ah name. Sucks.
I like
Noah
Mekai / Mekhi (not McCai. Micaiah or Micah would have better fit the set)
Josiah
Jonah is okay, I prefer Jonas
Great quote from her in there...
"Well, I don't want to have too many more."
So what, about 20 kids and she'll stop, right?

Agreed...

If I may: I didn't see any written article on MSN but in the video it did sound like the boy's name was Michaiah, as opposed to McCai. I could be wrong though.
Also in her defense, the statement she made about not wanting to have too many more was said BEFORE the octuplets, as in when she only had six. She may want a large family and she might not have the best judgment, but she doesn't appear to be insane by wanting more than her already giant family.
That being said, I wouldn't use most of these names myself but it appeared to be important to her to have faith-based names:
Malia - derived from Mary, possibly meaning "wished for child" or "beloved"; also prominent name in the Bible
Noah - Biblical figure; means "rest, comfort"
Neriah - Biblical figure; means "lamp of Yahweh"
Jonah - Biblical figure; means "dove"
Isaiah - Biblical figure; means "Yahweh is salvation"
Jeremiah - Biblical figure; means "Yahweh has uplifted"
Micaiah - Biblical figures; means "who is like Yahweh?"
Josiah - Biblical figure; means "Yahweh supports"
I'd be interested to see what their middle names are, to see if she "punched them up" a bit. While I'm not a huge fan of her choices, I think she chose much better names for her multiples than others. And every name she chose has a very strong meaning that will remind her of her faith every day. It's actually quite beautiful, I think.
