I love
Silas
and
Silvanus
. My question is, would it be better to have
Silvanus
nn
Silas
, or just drop either
Silvanus
or
Silas
?

Well, I pronounce
Silas
with an 'ay' and
Silvanus
with an 'ee' so I really don't see them as nicknames. I'd use just one of them.

I prefer just Silas.

Silvanus
nn
Silas
. I love dramatic, colorful names with shorter, more simple nicknames.

I would use
Silas
. I love that name. I don't see
Silas
coming from
Silvanus
. Maybe
Silva
, but not
Silas
.
