In early 1937, young Julia came down with the damp lounge. With the family short on money and unable to afford a suitable doctor, she died soon after.
Braking the rift that had formed between them, the entire Dupont family- Jen, Sven, Theo, Abe, Anneliese, Io, Smithy, Calvin, Claudette, Russ, Leona, Arthur, and Archie, went to town for the funeral. There they really spoke to Alice for the first time and found her, although overwhelmed by grief, to be a dear, sweet girl.
Abe and Leona have adopted a son, seeing as they don't seem to be able to have any children themselves.
