[Opinions] Twins
My aunt one day said if she had twin boys she would name them Jacob and Joshua. What do you think? Also what do you think about Michael James and Matthew Jacob for twins?

In addition to Rachel's comment about most popular and unoriginal - I find it too theme-y. I like names that start with the same letter, but I don't like putting them in the same sibset (much like for twins).Your combos M.J. is too much for me. However Michael James isn't a bad combo on it's own, and I do like Jacob (and Joshua). However, Matthew makes my skin coil.

That's the number one pair of names for twin boyshttp://ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/twins.html There were 69 sets of twins in 2007 names Jacob and Joshua.Followed by Matthew, Michael with 55 sets. So both are highly unoriginal. I like Jacob though.

I know a Michael and Matthew set. They're in their mid-twenties now, though.

I was going to say the same thing!Jacob and Joshua and Matthew and Michael are so overdone and boring as twins. The way I see it, when given the special opportunity, why not do something spectacular? On the other hand, J&J and M&M are all classic bible names, so they are always nice, albeit very snoozeworthy. (If I were to use biblical names, I'd choose Ezra James and Boaz Jacob(or Noah and Jonah, Samuel and Peter, or Simon and Benjamin)

jacob and joshua are a little boring, but nice, classic names. same about michael and matthew, but i still think michael is a really lovely name. they're good.

Those seem nice and classic. I might give the twins two different middle initials for individuality's sake.Michael Samuel
Matthew Jacob

Jacob and Joshua are quite popular in the grand scheme but I really don't meet many so it although it says so on paper it is hardly validated in my life. I like them both anyway, popular or not.I dislike the second twin set you mentioned because I don't like matchy letters, I don't like the name Michael, and Matthew is blah. However, I like James and Jacob.

I second everything said here about the names. And I add a bit of OT-I talk often enough of not liking names that are very popular (I'm hesitant to like names that are even on the charts at all), yet I've met very few people with incredibly popular names. I think I've only known one Jessica in my whole life, at least only one that I can remember. It's weird.
