Edith have Charlie, Edward, Oscar, Martha, Ada and Nora as well as her little angels Essie, Harry and John.
Charlie & Mabel have Barbara, Dorothy and Hank and they cared for Ada's daughter Sunny.
Edward & Anne Elisabeth have Ruby and Grace. Edward & Blanche have Simon.
Oscar & Rose have Audrey, Bobby, Jane and John.
Martha & Everett have Aster.
Ada & Harvey have Aleksey, Drew and Kay.
Nora & Jack have Patrick, Thomas, Shirley and Phyllis.
Arthur Washington has passed away at age 72. He died quietly in his sleep. Edith thankfully still has Arthur’s sister Dolly, or else she wouldn’t know what to do with herself.
Charlie and Mabel are enjoying life in Boston. All their children are now so grown; the oldest, Barbara is off at college at Berkeley and she has a boyfriend there. His name is Jesse De Veer and both Charlie and Mabel approve of him.
Dorothy is a busy high school student; she is a cheerleader and president of the French Club. Hank is in middle school and is top of his class, just like his father once was.
Sunny is now 18 years old and went off to college this year. Ada pays for all of Sunny’s education, but she doesn’t see Sunny much. Sunny doesn’t have a boyfriend.
Edward got involved with one of his students; Anne Elisabeth Donnelly, in 1936. Anne Elisabeth was only 19 at the time. Anne Elisabeth found out that she was pregnant shortly before graduation and gave birth to Edward’s child, a daughter in October 1938. Anne Elisabeth named the baby girl Ruby Rae Donnelly.
Edward really didn’t want to alter his life in any way, but he knew he needed to do the right thing for Anne Elisabeth’s and Ruby’s sake. He told Blanche about the affair and she agreed to a divorce. The divorce was finalized in late 1939. Simon was sent to live with Edward, and Blanche moved to San Diego.
By the time Blanche had moved away Anne Elisabeth was already pregnant with hers and Edward’s second child together. Edward and Anne Elisabeth married in January 1940 and welcomed their second daughter, Grace Gail Washington, in February 1940.
Both Edith and Arthur thought this was all such a mess and they were very angry with Edward. In fact Arthur and Edward did not speak at all for a year leading up to Arthur’s death.
Since Arthur died, Edith has contacted Edward again and she does love seeing her little grandbabies…
Oscar and Rose live life quietly with their four children in Annapolis. Rose does worry that perhaps the US will join the war in Europe and that Oscar will be sent there to fight. Oscar, on the other hand, would like to go to war and fight Hitler.
Martha and her husband Everett adopted a baby girl in 1938. An unmarried friend of Emma’s was pregnant and Martha and Everett offered to take the child in. They named her Aster Maeve Harding and love her unconditionally. Martha and Everett still live in the same house with Emma and Lawrence Cohen in New York.
Ada has not had anymore children. She still married to Harvey Dubois, but the marriage is rocky. Harvey has cheated on Ada several times with young up-and-coming starlets.
Ada doesn’t work at all anymore and she has had a hard time figuring out her identity now that she isn’t Vita Giles the movie star any longer…
The twins are now ten years old and they are rambunctious kids. Kay is now six years old and the baby of the household; everyone spoils her.
Nora and Jack have pulled through the worst of times. Jack has gotten a job at an air craft factory and the family has relocated to Michigan. Patrick, Thomas, Shirley and Phyllis are now all in school and are doing well.
