Arthur and Edith have Charlie, Edward, Oscar, Martha, Ada and Nora as well as their little angels Essie, Harry and John.
Charlie and Mabel have Barbara.
The last five years have fortunately been not as eventful as the years between 1910 and 1915.
Charlie Washington is now a young man and goes college. He wants to attend medical school once he receives his bachelor degree. Charlie met a young woman named Mabel Bishop on campus. They began dating and married in October 1919. They welcomed their first child, a healthy baby girl, in February 1920. They named her Barbara Joan Washington, and no, she was not premature…!
Charlie and Mabel love their baby daughter, but they don’t want to have any more children before Charlie has finished his education. Mabel discontinued her education to stay at home with Barbara. They live in a small townhouse in the college town. Arthur and Edith bought the house as a wedding gift for Charlie and Mabel.
Edward is also attending college, but not the same one as Charlie. He still secretly wants to become a painter, but is now pursuing a degree in art history. He is dating a young woman named Helen Manning, and although she would like to be married Edward is not too keen on the idea of marriage just yet…
Oscar is almost done with high school and has yet to figure out what he wants to do with his life. He might do the same as his father did; become a lawyer?
Martha wants to become a writer or a journalist. She might only 16, but she found the suffragette-movement very appealing, so she considers herself a feminist author. She has already uttered her desire to NEVER get married, which worries her parents, Arthur especially…
Ada has a steady boyfriend, whom she wants to marry. Arthur and Edith have told her she must wait until she has finished high school before she can marry her Frank. She is a bit upset about having to wait, but she cannot wait to become Mrs. Gillespie.
The baby of the family, Nora, is now twelve and busy with school and friends.
Arthur and Edith can hardly believe that their children are all so grown now. They love their little granddaughter, but have still to fully comprehend that their baby boy Charlie is now father himself!
Dolly still lives with Arthur and Edith and now that the children are older Dolly is mostly taking care of Edith, who is still very fragile and occasionally depressed.
