While Cammie was pregnant with her 8th child, the police came to the door and informed her that Trace had died. They didn't give her any more information about it. When the 8th child was born-- another daughter-- Cammie gave her the name "Trace" as her middle name.
A few months after Ramona was born, a baby was left in a basket on their front porch. There was a note on his blanket that read: "This is Trace Everhart's son, Jacob Leonidas Everhart. Please take care of him."
Cammie was devastasted-- Trace had been having an affair! And another woman had given him the son he'd always wanted.
However, Cammie decided the only right thing to do is adopt the boy-- he was her daughters' brother.
Cammie Everhart has Ethel, Marguerite, Helen, Evangeline, Rosalie, Maude, Hazel, Ramona, and Jacob.
