It just doesn't seem feminine to me. Perhaps because I associate it with Abraham from the Bible. That's the first thing that comes to my mind when I see Canaan.

I love it on a boy!!! I think it's so handsome. I don't like it on a girl at all, sorry.

I don't like it much, it reminds me too much of 'banana' since banana is 'banaan' in Dutch :S

I think it's more of a masculine name, but since it's so underused, it probably could be given to a girl without too many people raising an eyebrow.

... But it's a boys' name...
