Since Deborah has Biblical roots, I find it substantial even if it's not in fashion at the moment. I'm almost certain it will get rediscovered and will become popular again. In fact I would love to see it come back.
I'm not keen on any variant spelling, and I don't like Debbie. I think Deb is ok if a little boring, but the old obscure nickname, Debs, I quiet like, and would love to see.
