I've been watching Verdi's Aida on TV and thinking about this name. I've always heard it pronounced Ah-EE-duh, but once I met an African girl who pronounced it with the stress on the last syllable.

I sort of like it, in spite of not really caring for Ada.

This is an old favorite of mine. My combos were Aida Mireille and Aida Mathilde. I've been considering picking it back up again, but it doesn't really roll off the tongue the way my favorites do (I pronounce it ah-EE-duh).

I love Aida

It's so short and simple, and yet both historical, classic and somehow remarkably spunky. I pronounce it as ay-EE-duh, which I'm not sure is the same as ah-EE-duh. But regardless, who cares? It's been on my list for a very long time and I've grown to appreciate it as a very song-like, lyrical name. The syllable combination sounds genuinely beautiful, no?

I like Aida, but it's used by Muslims exclusively here so I'd never use it.

I love Ada. Aida is nice. I pronounce it ah-EE-da. and I do associate it strongly with the opera/musical
