[Opinions] Re: Scottish Girls' Names 2008
Hmm... I think you should probably have taken into account that the parents of the babies on the list are from all different backgrounds (in both ethnic and religious senses) before you posted this. I posted about a bunch of names from the Scottish Forenames 2008 list but I left out the ones with what you could call strange spellings (unless they were really obviously meant to be a 'unique' spelling) because of this reason. Other than that...'I want to name my daughter after expensive jewellery even though I live on a council estate and all my jewellery comes from Argos: '
I very much doubt someone matching this description would call their child Opal or Sapphire, I think they're quite high class names...

As I have said below, I do realise that a lot of these names are legit names in their own ethnicities, and I am not criticising that, I am just pointing out the humourous connotations that I'm sure several other people will in their lifetimes, as the children have been born in an English-speaking country. No offence was intended, as I said in my original post.S xx

Oh don't get me wrong, *I* wasn't offended, but these days we all have to be careful what we say/write/type and really think about it first...
people get so easily upset nowadays over just about anything (and most of the time nothing!) it makes me :-(
